Cancer took her life
The sudden passing of Xana deeply shocked the nation. In 2019, she was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, the most common form of bone cancer. Despite her courageous five-month battle against the illness, she did not survive. On August 29, 2019, her father, Enrique, announced the heartbreaking news of her passing, stating, “Our daughter Xana passed away this afternoon after a five-month struggle with osteosarcoma.”
He expressed gratitude to all supporters, as well as to the doctors, nurses, and medical staff for their efforts. Her parents, economist Elena Cullell and Luis Enrique, have been happily married for nearly two decades. They first met a year before Luis joined Barcelona and spent several years dating before tying the knot on December 27, 1997, at Barcelona’s Santa Maria del Mar.
